Assistant Professor & Extension Specialist

Job Description: The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Nutrition Unit announces a vacancy for the position of Assistant Professor and Extension Specialist in Nutrition, located in College Station, Texas.* The individual selected for this 12-month, non-tenure track position will provide statewide leadership in nutrition program development, implementation and evaluation. Preference will be given to candidates with content expertise in chronic disease prevention. The Nutrition Unit develops, tailors, and implements’ nutrition education curriculum to meet the local needs of Texas families and communities. A strong candidate for this position will use evaluation, implementation science, and community level intervention strategies to assess the impact of nutrition interventions (education, policy, system, environmental change) on community and individual health outcomes. Assistant Professors & Extension Specialists serve as subject matter experts and use their expertise to fulfill the mission of the Agency, providing support to the Extension network at the county, district, region, and state levels. Extension Specialists both individually and in team settings plan, coordinate, develop, implement, and evaluate curricula extension education programs, and educational resources. Additionally, they are expected to perform scholarly work including, but not limited to, applied research related to their subject matter area.

Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree in community nutrition, public health, public policy, health psychology, community psychology, or a related field. The successful candidate should have at least one degree in nutrition.
  • Knowledge and experience in developing and/or utilizing evidence-based programs aimed at addressing nutrition issues.
  • Ability to use distance technology for the development and delivery of education programs.
  • Must be able to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary initiatives and with colleagues in diverse subject matter disciplines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational.

Preferred Experience:

  • Doctoral degree that aligns with the programmatic work of the agency, unit and/or position.
  • Published research results in refereed journals.
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to seek and/or obtain external funding.
  • Experience in using various technologies (social media, online learning, etc.) to facilitate communication of food and nutrition information to the public and to professionals.
  • Experience in conducting applied research in nutrition.

Extension Program Specialist I

Job Description: Serve as an effective team member to plan, produce, implement and evaluate educational programs, products and services. The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Nutrition Unit announces a vacancy for the position of Nutrition Extension Program Specialist located in College Station, Texas or Stephenville, Texas.* The individual selected for this 12-month position will serve as a statewide expert on nutrition education. Preference will be given to candidates with education and interest in chronic disease prevention.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in nutrition or other applicable field like public health or education.
  • Knowledge of word processing, database, presentation, and spreadsheet applications.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational.

Preferred Experience:

  • Two or more years of related professional experience.
  • Registered Dietitian Nutritionist.

Business Associate I (Full-Time)

Job Description: The Business Associate I, under general supervision, provides support for business activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Enters reviews and reconciles vouchers and requisitions. Assists with monitoring portions of budget. Prepares basic standardized financial statements.
  • Investigates errors on transactions and recommends appropriate corrective action. Responds to routine inquiries from vendors and other business units or departments.
  • Prepares basic purchasing documents. Prepares and receives vouchers and requisitions as directed by supervisor, posts transactions to the record system, and reconciles records.
  • Allocates and reconciles payment card transactions for all center card holders as directed by supervisor.
  • Receives cash from customers and prepares receipts and deposit forms. Files related business documents.
  • Prepares and reviews electronic documents. Assists new employees in completing payroll, personnel, or other business documents. May serve as a liaison to accounting, payroll, and/or human resources. May review timesheets and leave requests, prepare payroll documents for approval, and/or collect and distribute payroll forms.
  • Maintains front office filing system, office supplies inventory, and contact lists/directories.
  • Collects and prepares vehicle mileage reports for submission.
  • Assists with annual inventory certification.
  • Coordinates center events and manages facilities usage calendar and files.
  • Maintains business files and assists with specialized business tasks. Disseminates business information to faculty, staff, and students.
  • Provides front office support. Answers incoming calls, assists visitors/guests, distributes mail, receives packages, etc.
  • Assists with agenda preparation for center meetings and takes minutes.
  • Participates in the hiring and training of business staff and/or student workers and may provide supervision.
  • Assist Operations Manager with special tasks/projects.
  • Other clerical/administrative duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three years of related experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

Wage/Salary: $11.50-14.77/hour (DOE)
