BIO

Dr. Cervantes graduated from New Mexico State University in May of 2014 with her Bachelor’s of Science in Agriculture, majoring in Agricultural Biology and earning two minors in Biology and Biochemistry. After graduation she worked as a DNA Analyst for Genetic Testing Laboratories with General Genetics Corporation. She completed her Master’s of Science in Agricultural Biology in December 2017 and her Ph.D. in Molecular Biology in May 2022, both from New Mexico State University. Her research focused on the seed-to-seedling transmission of Xylella fastidiosa in Carya illinoinensis (pecan), the microbiome of pecans, and the effects of deficit watering on pecan seedling health and microbiome.
