The green industry is moving toward sustainable practices to meet the demands of society. Stress-tolerant plants and sustainable horticultural practices are critical as they create opportunities to increase plant quality and decrease input costs for growers and landscapers in the southwestern region. My research interests focus on the selection of ornamental plants for ease of establishment, drought, heat, and salt tolerance, soil adaptation, pest resistance, and aesthetic characteristics; as well as the development of cultural, biological, and mechanical practices to enhance water use efficiency and the optimization of plant growth and post-harvest survivability in both residential and commercial settings.
